The annual ladies luncheon at the Old DeBorgia Schoolhouse last Saturday was the largest ever, with 30 "cowgirls" who enjoyed fantastic food while visiting, making new acquaintances accompanied with much laughter. The theme was for attendees to dress in western attire where Donna Richter won best dressed donning a vintage ladies western dress with a drover coat. Plans for next year are already underway. With the weather change from the heat of summer to the crisp cold of winter, wildlife behavior also changes. One no longer needs to be up at the crack of dawn to catch sight of deer or elk. Except during storms, animals will be up  and about at any time throughout the short winter days. So it is a great time to visit your favorite National Wildlife Refuge, such as the National Bison Range in Moiese.

Alberton to hold first community theater production

ALBERTON - The PEAK Foundation (Promoting Excellence in Alberton-area Kids) is sponsoring Alberton’s first community theater production, Briar Rose. The performances will be held Friday, August 16 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 17 at 10 a.m. Both shows will be performed in the Alberton School Cafeteria. This comedy and musical is a spoof on the old Sleeping Beauty tale where a prince falls in love with a woman who falls into a 100-year sleep. PEAK is looking for kids and adults of all ages to participate.
