On Friday, September 4th through 8th, the Department will be holding a fundraiser barbecue on the Courthouse lawn, together with a fire station open house. Mushroom buyers have been in Sanders County for about a month now as both locals and professional commercial pickers collect the morels from the vast area burned last year in the Copper King Fire. According to Dena Wiley and Robin Daems, two of the buyers out of Washington State, the Conicals are reaching the end of their season while the Greys are just coming in. At the peak of the season pickers were bringing in about 1000 pounds per day while now the take is about 200 lbs.

Cats, Tigers take fourth at Drummond Invitational

The varsity volleyball teams headed to Drummond last Saturday to participate in the Class C Drummond Invitational. Both the Clark Fork Mountain Cats and the St. Regis Tigers came in fourth place in their respective pools. There were two pools of eight teams for a total of 16 teams competing.

Alice Louise Wrightsman 89, as good of a wife, mother, and human being as ever graced this earth, passed away on December 9th, at the Hot Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hot Springs, Montana. Born on March 2, 1925 to John and Nora (Stroup) Landis, in Shelby, Ohio, she graduated from Shelby High School in 1943.
