Awards keep coming for Plains Cross Country Program
The high school cross country season is well behind us, the state championships having taken place at the end of Ocotober. But, that doesn’t mean that the awards have stopped coming for the girls squad at Plains High School. Each year, the Montana High School Association (MHSA), in cooperation with Montana’s Army National Guard recognizes academic excellence during each sport season (fall, winter, spring). The top three teams, by sport and by gender, are awarded Academic All-Team status based on first quarter academic performance.
Resource Coalition talks about habitat improvement efforts
It was a full house on Tuesday, Dec. 4 as members of the Mineral County Resource Coalition held their monthly meeting. Realignments and rule changes announced by Montana High School Association
The Montana High School Association’s Executive Boards recently announced a number of realignment and rules changes for winter and spring sports. There was also a major adjustment to each classification’s enrollment guidelines. Several schools from Classes A, B and C will reclassify their sports programs for the next school year, while Class AA in currently unaffected by the changes.

Fireman's Ball held at Plains VFW
PLAINS – Last Saturday night was the 7th Annual Fireman’s Ball, which was held in the VFW banquet hall. Chairs and tables filled the entire hall. In front of the tables and chairs there was a large line of auction items that were going to be auctioned off after the dinner.

More than 60 homes threatened as evacuation orders go into effect
Over 60 homes have been threatened by the Sunrise Fire burning east of Superior. Last week several areas including Sunrise Creek, Quartz Flats and Quartz Creek were given Stage 3 evacuation orders. Other areas, including Verde Creek, remained on Stage 2 evacuation warning. While the Rivulet area located northeast of the fire is on Stage 1 Evacuation Alert.
