Five suspected drug traffickers plead not guilty
Five suspected drug traffickers who allegedly smuggled ecstasy into Mineral County pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute in their initial court appearance July 2. The maximum penalty for the offense is up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $50,000.

Emergency Planning Committee meets, adds several new members
Familiar faces with new titles were seen at the monthly Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting on July 12. Donna Richter has been named the new assistant fire chief. She is joining current Superior Fire Department Chief Steve Temple. Temple took over as fire chief from Rob Torrey earlier this year after Torrey stepped down from the position.
T-Falls boys track excels at Bluehawk Invite
The Thompson Falls boys’ track team excelled at both their own invitational Thursday afternoon and the Big Sky Invitational Saturday afternoon in Missoula.
Community Notes
Lenten lunches will begin Feb. 20 at the Senior Center in Superior. These are open to everyone and are free of charge. There will be a free-will basket at the check-in table. These donations will be distributed at the end of Lent to non-profit organizations such as We Care, Food Bank, Women in Timber or other recipients determined by the committee. One year we donated to the swimming pool.

Winter arts and crafts fair held at Sanders County community market
The Sanders County community market held its winter arts and crafts sale at the Sanders County Fairgrounds in Plains on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

County jumps on enrollment
SANDERS COUNTY – On Saturday, March 22, officials from Clark Fork Valley Hospital, Sanders County Health Department, Mineral Regional Health Center and Missoula gathered in building two of the hospital. These people were certified application counselors and they came together in a final effort to encourage the people of Sanders County to get health care coverage.

Participants hack and blast their way through Plains
