The St. Regis Lady Tigers have spent the past week sharpening their claws and getting ready for the coming season.

Hot Springs High School split its varsity volleyball matches last week, earning a three-set sweep over St. Regis at home Thursday before falling at Seeley-Swan in a closely contested five-set match Saturday.

ST. REGIS – St. Regis High School student Steven Lowry and the rest of his design team spent last Thursday carefully packing away a contraption that they hoped would complete a complex task at a competition in Missoula all by remote.

ST. REGIS – The St. Regis Lady Tiger’s volleyball season came to an end last weekend during the regional tournament.
No one injured in Henderson garage blaze, say firefighters
At dinnertime on Saturday evening, the West End Volunteer Fire & Rescue was paged out for a garage fire in the Henderson area. As the firefighters were responding the owner said the fire was out and they did not need the fire department. Then, shortly thereafter, the West End was paged out again when the owner called 911 and said it was burning again. At this point, the West End requested back-up from the St. Regis Volunteer Fire Department.
Spencer moves to state track meet
Thomas Spencer was the sole individual from the St. Regis track team to represent the Tigers at the divisional track meet this past weekend at the Missoula County Stadium. And he will also be a representative of the Tigers at the state track this weekend.
Chamber to hold forums
The Mineral County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring six “Meet the Candidates” forums for Mineral County and State House District 14 candidates during the month of October. The events will be held at the St. Regis Community Center Oct. 5 and 21; Alberton School Oct. 7 and 12; and the Superior High School Multipurpose Room Oct. 18 and 19.
St. Regis misses first meet, will now have first go at Thompson Falls Invitational
With too many kids away for spring break, St. Regis ended up not attending the Jim Johnson Invitational last Wednesday in Missoula as was originally planned. Coach Maury Johnston said that rather they have added the Thompson Falls Invitational to their schedule for April 15 and that will be their first track meet of the season. The team has a small number of only five individuals. Johnston said that the challenges for the team remain the same.
St. Regis qualifies one for state golf
Dockter excells at Loyola Invitational
The St. Regis golfers headed to the Loyola Invitational last week on April 7 and 8. Coach Dan Park said that they had decent weather for a change, which was nice.
Lady Tigers, Clark Fork Boys, take third in Districts
The St. Regis Lady Tigers entered District tournament play with a 9-9 regular season and managed to make their way up the brackets to finish third place in Pablo. During a Thursday, Feb. 15, game against Noxon the Tigers won 36-27.
Lady Tigers place second at Arlee tournament
In a field packed with local teams and several from outside the area, the Lady Tigers won their pool in the round-robin style competition, allowing them to advance to the championship round.

Chad Eichenlaub named New Teacher of Year
St. Regis School's Chad Eichenlaub was named the 2016 Association for Career & Technical Education Region V, "New Teacher of the Year" during the 2016 ACTE Region V Awards Presentation in April.
Birth announcements; Caroline Faye Johnson
PLAINS – Caroline Faye Johnson was born at Clark Fork Valley Hospital on June 30 at 1:53 p.m. She weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces and was 19.5 inches in length. Parents are Sabrina Fletcher and David Johnson of St. Regis.
Alberton volleyball
Senior Ryan Vicek bumps the ball to one of her fellow Lady Panthers during a home game. Alberton recently played close games against St. Regis and Lincoln. The team's final game of the season will be against Drummond on October 26.

Terri Barclay, a former St. Regis Elementary Teacher, Office of Public Instruction Project Director, and instructor at the Montana Yoga Movement led an exciting and active story time session at Eva Horning Park on Tuesday, July 25. The Mineral County Library's Reading in the Park program concluded last week with a session of yoga for kids and beginners. Barclay read through the book, Be a Friend, as she and the children did a series of yoga poses like this tree pose. After the book and a bit of exercise, everyone celebrated with popsicles.
