Spawning the imagination Students get lively view of science from fish biologist
Grade-school students gathered around bubbling tanks in the St. Regis science classroom as Brooks Sanford dumped about 250 of squirmy orange alevin into the water from a net container. Alevin are newly spawned trout still carrying their yolk sac. Some students squeal with delight as they drop down into the pea gravel below.
Seniors recognized at their final home game
It was the last time Mineral County senior basketball players would step onto their home court when they suited up to play last week. Many of the players had been going to school with their teammates since kindergarten. Not only did they take many steps together on the court, but also in their everyday lives. Now, the next step is a big one, a step into their future.
