St. Regis hosts volleyball camp
Volleyballs and kneepads, as well as a net, were the needed equipment last Thursday as the first day of a three-day camp for St. Regis girls, ages fifth through eighth grade got underway.

The Darby/Florence Invitational track meet was held in Corvallis on April 10 where Clark Fork Mountain Cat Hailey Kelly got herself a trip to State by placing first in women’s varsity javelin with a throw of 118-02.

Lady Savage Heat ready for season opener
HOT SPRINGS- The Lady Savage Heat volleyball team gathered for the first practice of the year at the Hot Springs High School gym on Monday to begin preparations for the upcoming season. About a dozen athletes attended the practice to give coaches their first glimpse of the talent they will have this year.
Eighth-grader Molia Dao is the S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E winner
“P-O-R-T-E-N-T-O-U-S-L-Y” is what Alberton eighth-grader Molia Dao spelled to become the Mineral County Spelling Bee winner. Competition was held at St. Regis School on Monday, March 4. Molia beat out 30 contestants to take home top honors. Alternates were Skylar Knapp, an Alberton fifth-grader and Trizten Avila, sixth grade, from Superior.
Snowfall seen as worst in last 30 years
Last week, long-time Mineral County residents saw more snow than they’ve seen in 30 years. Estimates from the storm that hit last Monday, Feb. 25 were around 18 inches in Alberton, 12 in Superior and eight in St. Regis.

Interstate 90 reopens after landslide
MINERAL COUNTY - The cleanup of the landslide that closed Interstate 90 west for several hours on March 31 is progressing, but drivers in that area could still see some restrictions, according to the Montana Department of Transportation.

The county has $350,000 in title III funds, and on Friday, Mineral County financial officer Jessica Connelly warned commissioners that if the funds were not used, they would have to be returned to the federal government.
