Mineral County Buckle Up Coatlition announces saved by the belt awards
SUPERIOR, Mont., (May 29, 2013) – The Mineral County Buckle Up Montana Coalition is pleased to award two area women with Saved by the Belt Awards for their life-saving use of seat belts in collisions earlier this year. The women will be presented with the awards at the Mineral County Car Show on Saturday, June 1st at 1:00pm at The Old School House Rock Car Show in Superior.

SUPERIOR – An issue of grave concern was raised during the public comments of the county commissioner’s weekly meeting Thursday.

Mountain lion spotted in Superior
There have been numerous reports of a mountain lion in Superior over the past few weeks. It has been seen at night near Eva Horning Park. the high school and in the area of 4th Avenue. The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and the local game warden had been notified. However, the warden, Alex Mattson, said he had only received one call.

Every year the Keep Montana Green Association holds a poster art contest and this year, Superior School’s Abigail Wheeler was the regional winner. She won in the intermediate division which is grades 4 through 6 for her poster.

Superior voters asked to fund new school facilities
Superior School is hoping voters will pass a levy on Sept. 28 to construct an addition to the current high school.
Community Notes
There will be a forum for candidates running for the Mineral Community Hospital Board. Four current board members are up for re-election and all positions are contested. It will be held on Wednesday, April 18 in the multipurpose room at the Superior High School. The time has not been announced yet.

Superior students celebrate Veterans Day
American flags hung from businesses and the expanse of the memorial bridge in Superior was lined with red, white and blue ribbons. A sign placed by Wells Fargo read, “We honor and thank our veterans.”
