Man rescued from Clark Fork River

A Superior resident was pulled from the Clark Fork River on Friday evening, and was near death before being rescued. What started as a typical afternoon of fishing ended in near-tragedy after Jeramy Wilson, 40, went fishing near his home located northwest of town.

Flooding threat Clark Fork reaches highest level in 100 years

The Clark Fork River in Plains reached 16.26 feet feet over the weekend. Officials say this is the highest the Clark Fork has been in 100 years.

As part of a campaign to address the issue of lack of exercise and obesity’ substantiated in the Community Health Improvement Plan taken in Mineral County last spring, Mineral Community Hospital initiated a hiking program focused on getting people outdoors to enjoy the wonderful trails, lakes and vistas that make up the majority of our landscape. 2016 was the first year and consisted of a core group of 8-10 for the five hikes that were completed (two were rained out). However, by the end of the season, other people heard about this group and asked to be involved in 2017.

Open burning season ends April 30, permits will be required

Open burning season in Sanders and Mineral counties officially ends April 30, and burn permits will be required until fire season begins.

The We Care Foundation has been around the area for eight years, helping families meet their needs for things like housing, fuel, medical bills and car repairs.

Lozeau Bridge Fire required devoted resources

UPDATE: Woodland said the fire was started by a welding operation on the Lozeau Bridge. Earlier reports stated a firefighter was possibly injured. It was later determined one of the firefighters from SVFD was suffering from heat exhaustion and was treated and released.
