More than 600 spectators packed the Thompson Falls High School gymnasium to see the Bluehawks take on their biggest foe, the Plains Horsemen. In just over an hour later, the Bluehawks walked off the court with a 72-58 win to give them a 4-0 conference record and a 7-3 overall record.

Ever since grade school, Jonna Rae Warnken has had her eye on targets, both figuratively and as a fact of life. Now eight years later, she’s hit a big bulls-eye as she signed a letter to shoot for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) division one team. Jonna is a senior at Superior High School and shooting for a college team has been her goal since she was nine-years-old. Now at 17, her dreams are coming true, “I’m so fortunate to have received a scholarship,” she said during an interview with the Mineral Independent. Her overall goal is to shoot for UTEP as All American for four years and to help get her team to the NCAA Championships.

George Bernard Shaw’s Comedy “You Never Can Tell” came to the stage at the Mineral County Fairgrounds on Wednesday evening. Jim Goss with the Mineral County Performing Arts said they were worried about holding the event outside because of the smoke from area wildfires. However, when show time came at 6 p.m., the afternoon breeze had cleared the air and people brought lawn chairs, blankets and sat on bleachers to enjoy the show.
