According to the charter of the town of Superior, the town council is required to elect one or two presidents every January and during the Jan. 14 meeting of the town council current councilors once again appointed presidents.

THOMPSON FALLS –  A new fire has been found within the Thompson River Complex, the Marmot fire. The fire, a holdover fire from the Aug. 1 lightning storm, was found on Sunday Aug. 10 and is located approximately 2.5 miles north of the Spruce Creek fire.

Two small wildfires reported in Mineral County

The Superior Ranger District reported that there was no fire activity in the area west of Superior. However, two small blazes broke out in the Nine Mile Ranger District over the weekend. A 12-acre blaze called the Burdett Fire was reported nine miles southeast of Tarkio. It is in a remote area caused by lightning.
