Colorado woman dies after vehicle gets stuck

An early evening call received by Mineral County dispatch on Friday, March 17, ended in tragedy. The body of Debra Ann Koziel was found by a search team on the following Tuesday afternoon. Her death was determined to be the result of exposure to the weather.

Rudi Boukal played to a large audience in The Paradise Center Thursday, March 16. Boukal is an enthusiastic, nervous, and persistent explorer who is also a musician, storyteller, and very inspired and inspirational. His music was a combination of classical, jazz, and experimental interspersed with his own life experiences, wisdoms, and stories of what inspired each musical piece he played on the keyboard. The music he composes and plays comes from a variety of life experiences he has had with family, friends and people he has never met face to face.

Warmer temps a relief after round of snowstorms

Mineral County residents are breathing a sigh of relief and hope the last storms of the winter season have swept through the county with temperatures predicted to top 50 degrees this week. A welcome relief after western Montana was pounded with several more inches of snow last week. On Thursday, March 9, residents awoke to another six to eight inches of snow, after receiving around four inches last Wednesday.

F?amed children’s author Dr. Seuss once said, “You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.” Last Thursday, nobody had their eyes shut as several adults and pre-school children gathered around a chair in the Mineral County Library and listened to Dr. Seuss stories to celebrate the author’s 113th birthday.

The Montana Highway Patrol reported 34 incidents between Feb. 26 and Mar.5, as snow and icy conditions continue to sweep down Interstate 90 in Mineral County. Several incidents occurred on Sunday, Feb. 26, and on Saturday, Mar. 4 where higher elevations were hit with heavy snow fall. Especially hazardous conditions were reported on Lookout Pass.
