Forest Service tries to stay on schedule despite furlough
Despite the 35 day government shutdown, the Superior and Ninemile U.S. Forest Service offices have been working hard to remain on schedule. Superior District Ranger, Carole Johnson, and new Ninemile District Ranger, Eric Tomasik, gave an update report to the Mineral County commissioners on Feb. 22.

The Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce held its first meeting of 2017 at the new meeting room in Camas Organic Market on Jan. 5. The meeting had approximately 20 people in attendance, with many being business leaders, owners and several residents. Leslie Smith, who is the owner of Symes Hotel and the President of the Chamber of Commerce, led the meeting by reviewing the agenda. Hot Springs businesses and residents discussed ways to improve Hot Springs visibility and attract more people.

Thompson Falls ran its record to 6-1 behind a balanced ground attack and some timely aerial scoring as they rolled to a 57-18 homecoming win over Charlo in 8-man football action Friday night in Thompson Falls.

Noxon avenged an early season loss over their cross-class, inter-county rival Thompson Falls with a thrilling, 62-59 overtime win on Saturday. Each team is now gearing up for their respective district tournaments as they head into the final weekend of the regular season.
