Missing person found alive near border of Sanders and Lake County
A helicopter takes off during the search and rescue mission earlier today. Troy Akers of Ronan, who was missing since Sunday, April 26, was found alive at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. He was found in a creek bed near North Valley Creek Road.
Hot Springs, Noxon end regular season with defeats
In 6-man football action, Hot Springs and Noxon each suffered defeats last Friday, but both will be in this weekend’s playoffs.
Art on the Walls scheduled
PLAINS - The Sanders County Arts Council announces the first quarter exhibit of “Art on the Walls” for 2014 at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital. This is a Student Show of original artwork, open to students from K-12 in Sanders County area public, private, or home schools. Students exhibiting this year are from Hot Springs, Noxon, Plains, and Thompson Falls. The opening reception is Tuesday, January 14th, from 5:00 until 6:30 PM, featuring musical performances by Trout Creek student musicians and the piano students of both Sydne Connolly and Heidi Mack. Linda Knight’s Consumer Sciences Class of Plains High School will provide refreshments and the Clark Fork Valley Hospital will provide beverages. Artwork will be on display from January 14th through March 24th.
Art on the Walls changing quarters
Art-on-the-Walls winter quarterly show will feature art students from elementary and high schools in Paradise, Plains and Thompson Falls. The 2010 show will open at Clark Fork Valley Hospital on January 18.

It was a nice evening for early October in Hot Springs last Friday, but lighting bolts were prevalent during the first quarter while the Savage Heat were hosting Heart Butte in Hot Springs’ Homecoming game.

The latest installment in the “Art on the Walls” series at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital was unveiled on Thursday featuring the talents of area artists. A wide variety of styles and mediums graced the walls down the hall from the main entrance to the hospital.

Local Minor League Baseball update
Clark Fork Valley Minor League Baseball postseason tournament seeds are set. The Plains Twins headed to Thompson Falls last Tuesday for the final regular season game of the year. At stake was a number one seed heading into next weekend’s tournament. Pitcher Jake Zigler held the Hawks at bay with a 13 strikeout, one hit performance for a 2-0 victory. The six team postseason tournament is hosted in St. Regis on Friday and Saturday.

Elks Hoop Shoot champs crowned at the local level
Six Sanders and Mineral county youth advanced to the district level of the Elks National Hoop Shoot in January with first-place finishes at the Clark Fork Valley Elks Hoop Shoot held Sunday, Nov. 11 at Thompson Falls High School.
