On Monday April 15th, the State Administration Standing Committee which I chair heard two Senate bills, Senate Bill (SB) 408 and SB 405, both presented by Senator Alan Olson (Senate District 23) of Roundup. You might already be aware of these bills as they caused a great deal of raucous and media attention on the Senate floor on Friday, April 5th.

Cabin Fever Quilters show work during annual show
Hundreds of brightly colored quilts decorated the halls and rooms of Superior High School during the Mineral County Fair on Aug. 3 and 4. This was the Cabin Fever Quilters 18th Annual Show, with the theme “Outdoors Montana.”
Forest Service to perform burns
The Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District has several prescribed burns planned for the next few months on U.S. Forest Service lands in Sanders County. Depending on whether burning prescription conditions are met, these burns could occur over the next several weeks.

Parents as Teachers is holding a diaper drive from Oct. 29 to Nov. 9 to collect a goal of 300 packages of diapers for distribution to families in need in Mineral County. Parents as Teachers provides educational materials to parents about child development; screens children for potential delays; and offers general parenting support. Diapers will be distributed on the evening of Nov. 14 in St. Regis along with an educational event.
