Owners of former paper mill sued for $1.2 million in taxes
After three years of non-payment for property taxes, Missoula County is suing the owners of the former Smurfit-Stone mill in Frenchtown, located just east of Alberton.

United Way helps residents prepare for wildfire season
It was National Wildfire Preparedness Day last Saturday, May 5 and the Frenchtown Rural Fire Department teamed up with United Way of Missoula to pilot a community chip day. Crews were in the Sorrel Springs and Elk Meadows subdivisions near Frenchtown and Huson chipping brush and debris piled on the road by homeowners. These are efforts to prepare their properties for this year’s wildland fire season.

The Trotters track and field team continued their winning ways, taking first place at the Seeley Invitational on April 20 in Missoula. The girls dominated the competition with strong showings from multiple athletes across a wide array of events. Demonstrating the depth of the talent on the team, top finishes were scored in distance, sprint, throwing and jumping events.
