March 7, 2022: The Indianapolis Fire Department rescued a 17-year-old who had gotten stuck on a tree branch 35 feet off the ground.

MINERAL COUNTY – Level three evacuations were in place last week for an area west of Alberton and south of Interstate 90 that included the Hole-in-the-Wall Ranch and several residences as the West Fork Fish Creek fire grew to over 12,000 acres and was threatening structures.

Nearly 400 people descended on Superior Schools last weekend to participate in the Annual Superior Hoop Shoot. A basketball competition for grades third through eight comprised of three divisions: third and fourth; fifth and sixth; seventh and eighth.

We Care event a success
Folks from all over Mineral County came together to take part in the We Care Festival in Superior, which was held on Saturday, Oct. 16. The gathering took place in front of the historic school building in the heart of Superior, and featured several different exhibits, activities for kids and live music courtesy of the Zylawy brothers. The event was intended as a fundraiser for the newly created We Care organization.

Fire danger at extreme
MINERAL COUNTY - As temperatures continue to hover around 100 degrees during Mineral County afternoons combined with the lack of precipitation over the last several weeks, authoroties decided last week to raise the fire danger level to extreme.
No one injured in Henderson garage blaze, say firefighters
At dinnertime on Saturday evening, the West End Volunteer Fire & Rescue was paged out for a garage fire in the Henderson area. As the firefighters were responding the owner said the fire was out and they did not need the fire department. Then, shortly thereafter, the West End was paged out again when the owner called 911 and said it was burning again. At this point, the West End requested back-up from the St. Regis Volunteer Fire Department.

This past Tuesday, the Montana House of Representatives passed House Bill 2, which will eventually serve as the state’s budget for the next two years. Creation of a balanced budget is the one constitutional duty of the Legislature and it is a responsibility my Republican colleagues and I take very seriously.

Undefeated Superior Bobcats Best Plains Savage Horsemen
The Superior Bobcats came out of the gate with a 21-point first quarter and never looked back as they defeated the hosting Plains/Hot Springs Savage Horsemen on Friday night 49-24. The win pushed the undefeated Bobcats to 2-0, while the Savage Horsemen slid to 0-2.

TRACS first annual river wine festival a hit
surgically re-constructed knee couldn’t dampen Thompson River Animal Care Shelter president and co-founder Wanda Thorpe’s spirits last Saturday evening as more than one hundred Clark Fork Valley locals showed their support for TRACS by attending its First Annual River Wine Festival. All proceeds from the fundraiser, hosted by the Rocky Point Ranch, will go to support TRACS.
