$60,000 raised at 4-H/FFA livestock auction

Nearly $53,000 went into the pockets and college funds of 4-H/FFA members at the 2018 Livestock Auction held on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 4 at the Mineral County Fair. This doesn’t include the additional $8,000 local businesses threw into the pot to sweeten the deal for the 21 youth who have spent this past year raising the animals for judging and the auction. Altogether, there were 14 swine, three beef, two sheep and one chicken up for grabs.

'Cardiac Ready Communities' hoping to take hold in Mineral County

The Local Emergency Planning Committee held their monthly meeting on Nov. 3 in Superior. During the meeting, Janet Trethewet gave a brief presentation on “Cardiac Ready Communities” initiative. The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (MDPHHS) received a $3.2 million gift from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust last year. The funds have been used to implement this three-year initiative.

Hospital board hears draft audit report

SUPERIOR - During its March 27th meeting, the Mineral Community Hospital Board received a draft audit report showing a $196,448 operating loss for last fiscal year. Tom Dingus, Spokane CPA who presented the report, noted the hospital had 28 days of cash at the end of last fiscal year compared to 66 days of cash for Critical Access Hospitals in the western U.S.

Superior resident, Peggy Temple, has been fly fishing for at least 30 years and has guided both men and women on fishing float trips down the Clark Fork River for the past four years with her husband, Steve. They own the fishing guide service, “Clark Fork Trout”, and when Peggy was asked to be a fly fishing instructor for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks “Becoming an Outdoors-Woman” program, she jumped at the chance.
