As soon as I see the first snowflakes of the year hit the ground, my thoughts immediately turn to the upcoming ski season and the days seem to drag as I anxiously await the opening of the ski resort. Turns out I'm not the only one.

Two house fires hit the west end of Mineral County within weeks of each other. Near Haugan, Ruschel Sage and Todd Oatman’s new home burned to the ground on Jan. 21. Nearly a month later, on Feb. 19, Shawn and Amy Cielke’s home also burned and was completely destroyed.
