Obituary; Norma G. Vance Brodd
Norma G. Vance Brodd passed away peacefully at home in Mill Creek, Washington on March 13, 2015 at the age of 88. Norma was the daughter of Russell and Hazel Grunhuvd and was born on the Grunhuvd farm near Hysham, Montana in 1927. She lived most of her life first in Montana near Hysham and Superior, and then in Idaho near Boise, spending the last two decades of her life in Port Ludlow, Washington. She had recently moved to Mill Creek.

Letter to the Editor
I am writing this letter in regards to the fire that started on our property near the mouth of Trout Creek on Friday, May 30, 2014. Without the quick response of both the Superior Volunteer Fire Department and the US Forest Service, this bad situation would have had the opportunity of becoming a full blown forest fire as due to the strong winds, the fire had changed direction, headed down the creek and subsequently jumped the creek and would have gone on up the mountain had it not been stopped.
Superior proclaims National Service Recognition Day
SUPERIOR - This week history was made, as one of more than 1,760 mayors in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico united in support of national service. Together, we represent more than 110 million Americans, or one-third of the U.S. population. In Mineral County Tuesday marked the second annual Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service. In Montana 36 Montana mayors participated including Mayor Roni Phillips. RSVP Coordinator for Mineral County Mary Jo Berry, welcomed members of the community and Thanked all the volunteers who are essential to the success and strengthening of countless programs and services in the community.

Noxon Lady Red Devils end season at Districts
HOT SPRINGS – The Lady Red Devils took to the court at Hot Springs during the district tournament and came up short twice against both Hot Springs and Superior.

St. Regis, West End and Superior fire companies hold practice session with new fire-fighting agent
The St. Regis, Superior and West End volunteer fire departments got together at the West End’s Saltese fire station to practice with a new type of fire-fighting agent.

Superior wrestlers place at Ronan Duals
The wrestling school in this area that has the smallest number of wrestlers on its roster was the lone representative from Sanders and Mineral counties during this past weekend’s Western Montana Invitational, aka the Ronan Duals.

Primary elections will take place on June 7.
Local Emergency Planning Committee meets to discuss projects
The Mineral County Local Emergency Planning Committee held its monthly meeting on Feb. 11 in Superior. John Bennett with the Montana Highway Department updated the group on two projects that will start in March and last until October. Both will be located on I-90. The first project, called Tarkio East, will involve resurfacing the highway. This project will start east of Superior near Cedar Creek to about a mile west of Alberton.

SUPERIOR - Rebekah Ann Bryant, 25 years old, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013, due to complications from the flu virus.
Superior woman hurt in elk collision
KELLOGG - A cow elk was bisected on Interstate 90 late Sunday after it collided with a vehicle, Idaho State Police reported.

Superior, St. Regis golf at Thompson Falls
The St. Regis golfers were in Thompson Falls this last weekend. The boys finished with a team total of 464. Surprisingly, the boys had no finishers in the top ten individuals at the meet.

Bake sale, craft fair at senior center
The lip-smackin’ treats and desserts of every texture and flavor filled tables on Saturday at the Superior Senior Center. The bake sale was accompanied with a raffle of terrific prizes as many customers were attending this event and the craft fair in St. Regis to make a full day of shopping locally.
