There will be a fundraiser for the new pool in the Eva Horning Park on June 8 with a BBQ and Bingo. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. with bingo at 6 p.m. It will be held at the Mineral County Fair Grounds.

The Darby/Florence Invitational track meet was held in Corvallis on April 10 where Clark Fork Mountain Cat Hailey Kelly got herself a trip to State by placing first in women’s varsity javelin with a throw of 118-02.

I was looking at the predicted weather for the summer by NOAA, northwest Montana is slated for a severe drought. As of today, March 21, the precipitation is 5 percent of normal for the month.

Highway 200 collision

Tuesday morning June 5, at approximately 9:05am a small Honda sedan was involved in a collision on Highway 200 out side the Elk Den in Plains situated at approximate mile marker 76.

St. Regis School weight room open to the public

Over the summer, St. Regis School converted the old bus barn into a weight room which is available for community use. It comes complete with weights, tread machines and exercise bikes. Todd Fischer will be the facility manager and the hours will be 6:45 to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Obituary; George Nelson Lamb

George Nelson Lamb passed away March 24, 2015.  George was born to George and Augusta Lamb at Falcon, Idaho on June 11, 1923.  He grew up on the Quartz flats near Superior MT. George was proud to have served his country during WWII.  He earned a purple heart while serving in the Pacific Theater.  He met the love of his life, Leona Wentz, during a welcome home dance held in his honor at the Quartz schoolhouse.  They were married December 25, 1946.  Leona survives him.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister June (Bud) Petersen and 5 half siblings.  A public military burial will take place in the Quartz Cemetery on June 24, 2015 at 1:30 pm.

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 200 and Highway 135 near Paradise around 5 p.m. on Monday. A semi-trailer collided with a late model, light blue Subaru wagon while attempting a left turn heading south on Highway 135.

Many little guy wrestlers from Plains / Hot Springs qualified for the Unit 1 Intervalley Meet at Libby this weekend highlighted by Dane Martin, Anthony Neal and Aaron Collins who all should place at state along with Russell Kujala who is undefeated this year and Logan Goodwin who has only lost one match.
