We the People
We are now through the third week. I will give a synopsis of some of the legislation that may be of interest. We voted today on HB1, which is known as the “feed bill”. This bill funds the legislative session plus the first couple weeks of the 2013 session. There was a 5% reduction in this bill. I might add that, regardless of what you may have seen in the media, the legislature did not vote for a pay raise. That would be in violation of Constitutional law. No legislature can vote a pay raise for that session and there has not been an increase in six years. The per diem we get to pay for housing and food was raised by about $1.50.
Trotters win trophy
Everyone knows that the hoister of the Lombardi Trophy, the Stanley Cup or a gold medal has achieved athletic greatness. The Sanders County Tournament Trophy might be on a smaller scale, but you wouldn’t know it by watching the girls’ basketball tournament last weekend in Plans.
Lady Panthers begin to find their groove
The Alberton Lady Panther basketball team had a busy week, taking on three opponents beginning Jan. 8 on the road against Lincoln.

Mountain Cats win challenge game, bound for Western C Divisional
The Clark Fork Mountain Cats just made history by making it to the Western C Divisional Tournament in Butte as the Alberton/Superior co-op. They won their challenge game against the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks on Monday in Frenchtown, 56-44, to give them second place at the 13C District Tournament. The Cats won the third-place game, edging Victor 54-53 on Saturday. Darby won the championship game over Seeley-Swan, 65-38. Since Clark Fork and Seeley-Swan had not met in the tournament, the Cats were able to challenge for the second-place trophy and a berth in the Western C Divisional. In Monday’s win over Seeley-Swan, Bryan Mask led the Cats with 15 points, Carson Callison had 13, Aaron Waddle 12, Michael Spence 11 and Danner Haskins 5.
