5 volleyball players awarded all-conference
St. Regis Lady Tigers Courtney Cheesman, a senior, was named all-conference first-team for Western Class C in District 14. She was joined by fellow senior, Madison Hill and junior, Justice Tate who were named second-team all-conference. Junior, Anna Sanford was name honorable mention. Clark Fork Mountain Cats junior, Montanna Baughman was named District 13 second-team all-conference.

MISSOULA – Track and field teams from St. Regis and Alberton competed last week in Missoula at the Jim Johnson Invitational track and field meet during what was at times cold and snowy weather and at other times bright and sunny.

PLAINS - The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is holding a public meeting to provide information and accept written comments on a water quality plan for nine streams in and surrounding the Thompson River watershed in Sanders and Flathead Counties.
Missoula Children's Theatre to hold auditions
PLAINS - Auditions will be held for Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Red Riding Hood Monday, March 18 at the Plains School Cafeteria from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 3:45 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions.
Plains Paradise Senior Center keeping its doors open
The Plains Paradise Senior Citizens Center will be continuing its mission of serving as a focal point for senior services in the Plains Area.
Resource Coalition continues to work on Saltese Trestle funding
The monthly Mineral County Resource Coalition meeting was held on March 5 with the main topic of discussion the restoration of the Saltese Trestle. The 100-year-old trestle is in need of repair and parties involved with the restoration project attended the meeting to talk about the next steps needed to be taken in order for the project to move forward.
Hot Springs' Knudsen named QB of Western Division All-Conference team
Brandon Knudsen, Hot Springs Savage Heat standout quarterback and linebacker heads the list of post-season honorees from the Western Division 6-man All-Conference team.
Irish event planned to raise hospital funds
The Mineral County Medical Foundation has enlisted the assistance of a leprechaun in the promotion of their "Luck of the Irish" dinner, raffle and silent auction to be held at the St. Regis Community Center on April 24th at 5:30 p.m. The event is dedicated to raising funds for the Mineral Community Hospital. The highlight of the Irish night is a performance by "Singing Sons of Beaches," a popular Montana singing group known for their light humor and good music.

Battle on invasive watermilfoil in Noxon shows success
In 2012, the Sanders County Aquatic Invasive Plants Task Force waged the largest battle thus far in the war against two species of non-native weeds in the Noxon and Cabinet Gorge reservoirs -- Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) and curlyleaf pondweed (CLP). Noxon Rapids Reservoir contains the uppermost known infestations of EWM on the Clark Fork River drainage.
