Grange focuses on community outreach
PLAINS – The Plains Grange met on Tuesday and discussed where to donate money as part of their community outreach they are known for.

Melanie's (sports) column: Supportive community helps sports
High school sports are important to the community that supports them, this newspaper included. They are also important to the participating students, as it is commonly known that student athletes on the high school, or “prep” level usually do well academically. From covering sports this past school year, particularly basketball, I have seen the communities of Sanders County come together to support the sports, and the students that play them. As a journalist, and a small-circulation newspaper editor, this is pleasing to see. But the road hasn’t been a smooth one to drive.
Why use Mineral Community Hospital?
You’re familiar with slogans supporting use of local businesses, right? “Support Your Local Businesses”; “Your Local Merchants are your Tax-Paying Neighbors. Buy Local!”, etc. Communities all over the country are running campaigns like this to support “Main Street” businesses. These campaigns exist because there is wide recognition that “Main Street” contributes far more to a community than place to obtain a product or service.
Mineral County Community Foundation gives scholarships
Three graduating seniors from Mineral County high schools have been chosen to receive college scholarships. To qualify a graduate must submit an application which is reviewed by the MCCF Board. Selections are made based on five factors; (1) community service, (2) leadership qualities, (3) scholastic achievement, (4) extracurricular activities and (5) overall character.
Community Outreach bus to be terminated
MINERAL COUNTY – As of Thursday, November 21, Mineral Community Hospital will no longer offer the Community Outreach bus as a way for residents to go to Superior.
