Elementary students run wild in Plains gym
On March 6, approximately 150-180 Plains Elementary students were in the gym running, hopping, and some were even throwing things. Wait, don’t be alarmed and call the school to ask what was going on there, or if anyone was hurt. It was all in good fun and part of the after school program and the Plains High School National Honor Society. The Plains gym was where this carnival took place from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Allie (Bailey) Adams, 93
Allie Fair Adams, 93, passed away Nov. 5 at the Mineral Community Hospital Long-Term Care Facility. Known locally as the Cat Lady, she cared for the many animals people abandoned on her property. She couldn’t stand to see any animal or person in need and her compassion knew no bounds. Her open and giving nature enabled her to help many in this community either on the job at the Mineral Community Hospital and Nursing Home or in her private life. Yet few knew she was a gifted primitive artist who painted landscapes which she gave away freely. She had wanted to spend her retirement painting, but, instead, she spent it as she had her entire life, caring for others.

It was increasingly more difficult to hold functions for members, let alone conduct significant fund raisers for the community. Then it began coming together. You know how it is working with committees…no matter how dedicated each one is. But, work together everyone did! And successfully!
