Plains Prom anything but plain
PLAINS – Attendees walked up the painted cobblestone pathway past the antique lampposts to enter the pavilion. The room was showered in white and gold fabrics that sparkled. The center of the space was the ballroom and the outskirts an enchanted forest with balloon trees and fairy lights. A large clock face was center stage for the ‘Til the Clock Strikes 12’ theme.

HOT SPRINGS – The Savage Heat played a nail-biter of a game against the Noxon Red Devils. Both teams were neck and neck until the very end Friday night.

Ladyhawks break even
The Lady Hawks broke even last weekend defeating Troy on the road, 44-41, on Friday before falling, 26-35, to Eureka at home on Saturday. Thompson Falls is now 2-2 overall, 1-1 in conference.

Local teams hit the Superior Hoop Shoot target
Elementary students from all over the are descended on Superior last weekend to participate in the Superior Hoop Shoot. There were 31 teams made up of boys and girls from grades five through eight who met up on the courts in the high school and elementary school gyms to shoot-it- out. Teams were grades 3/4; 5/6; and 7/8.

Bikes, fishing poles big hit at county fair
Kids of all ages gathered in anticipation for their number to be called during this year’s Living Water Bible Study Group bike raffle. It was held on Saturday, Aug. 5, during the Mineral County Fair at 3 p.m.

Residents warned of false evacuation orders
Mineral County Sheriff Tom Bauer was reminding residents that only uniformed law enforcement officers or fire officials will ask them to evacuate. The warning is the result of a report last week from a resident in the Lozeau area who was allegedly approached by an individual who told them they needed to evacuate immediately. However, he did not appear to be an official with law enforcement or the fire department.
Single-vehicle wreck at 382/200 junction
What was first called in to be a multi-vehicle wreck on the junction of highways 382 and 200 turned to be a single-vehicle crash with two occupants involved.

The Mineral Independent reported in the March 20 issue that sixth-grader Abigail Wheeler, from Superior School, won first place in the intermediate division for the Keep Montana Green Association poster art contest. Her mother proudly announced that she recently won first place in the state competition in her division. Congratulations, Abigail!
