The Mineral County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament made its comeback Saturday at the Trestle Creek Golf Course in St. Regis with sunny weather and teams from all over Mineral County.

'Barefoot in The Park' performed in Plains

The Jean Morrison family and the Plains Public Schools brought the Montana Repertory Theatre to Plains Monday, Jan 23 to begin their 50th Anniversary tour. The professional acting company first stopped in Plains with “The Rainmaker in 1989, making this the 28th year Plains has been the first stop on the national tour. Jean Morrison, Plains Public Schools and Montana Repertory Theatre helped bring the production of “Barefoot in the Park” to life. The play is a delightful and sometimes uncomfortable look at the struggles of a recently newlywed couple and the people they meet in their New York brownstone apartment.

Community Notes

The Mineral County Library will host their annual Pumpkin Decorating and Costume Contest on Oct. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. There is also a fall fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a bake and book sale, as well as hot dogs. The Chamber of Commerce will be there at noon, and Parents as Teachers will do a slime presentation. All events will be held on the library lawn located at 301 2nd Ave. E. in Superior. SANDERS COUNTY - Tuesday morning, a tractor trailer hauling approximately 15 tons of Washington Apples ran off Highway 200 near mile marker 87. After running off the road the tractor trailer fell onto its side, popping the top off the top of the trailor, spilling out boxes of apples.

The Soul Savers Association Hunting and Fishing group have consistently attracted large crowds to their annual Sportsman's Banquet with another 100-person plus showing Saturday in Plains. The banquet serves as the group's main fundraiser with a silent auction, live auction, games and prizes, music, a guest preacher from Missoula, and a meal of wild game.
