A tractor trailer crashed and spilled a liquid substance on Interstate 90 between Deborgia and St. Regis Wednesday.

Basketball Roundup

In St. Regis the Tigers faced the Noxon Red Devils with a set of loses. The girls lost in a close game, 34-29. The Tigers held the lead at the half, 15-13. But the Red Devils bounced back in the third quarter putting in an extra bucket with the teams tied at 23-23. In the fourth quarter the Tigers dropped back and Noxon gained another 11 points to 6 for the win.

Clara Haven Loge, born on Dec. 30, 1917, in the homestead home of her Norwegian immigrant parents, Nilla and Mathias Haven, on the snow-covered prairie of rural McHenry, North Dakota, died in Dillon on Oct. 24, 2017, a few weeks short of her 100th birthday.

The Mineral County Pioneer Council is a group of volunteers with a representative from the Montana Transit Association, that meets monthly to discuss the needs, changes, challenges and costs of providing public transportation in Mineral County.

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats Varsity Girls Basketball aren’t the only girls team to go undefeated this season. The Mountain Cats Junior High team also was undefeated with a 12-0 season and won their championship game on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Yard sales invaded Mineral County last weekend as St. Regis held a town yard sale on June 16 and 17. The West End Annual Yard Sale also took place at the DeBorgia Historic School House. This included their Cowboy Breakfast of biscuits and gravy, sausage and drinks.

Brian Coon won a truckload of fire wood donated by Tricon Timber. It was a raffle held by the Clark Fork Mountain Cats football team with proceeds used to benefit the team. Coach Jeff Shultz and the team wanted to thank Tricon for their donation and for supporting the team.

Four county athletes bring home some medal from state track

Class C State Track and Field took place on May 26 and 27 at the Laurel Sports Complex near Billings. Six Mineral County athletes traveled the 770 mile round trip to compete against over 30 other schools. Four students came home with some medal including Clark Fork’s Emma Duboise who pole vaulted her way to second place and tied with Maddy Thompson from Fort Benton with a jump of 9-0.

Last games of the year a disappointment for the Tigers

The St. Regis Tigers were dealt a loss to Arlee at the Dec. 22 game with a final score of 93-28.  Arlee came out strong in the first quarter with a 16-9 lead. They put up another 33 points in the second quarter, to the Tiger’s 12.  The final two quarters sealed the Tigers fate with an additional 44 points to the Tiger’s seven.
