News articles and editorials raise concerns about older drivers on increasingly busy streets and highways. Recent statistics show older adults are safe drivers with good driving records. As baby boomers reach retirement age, by 2030 the 65-plus population will make up a quarter of U.S. drivers.

Trotters hit the field and come up with a win
The Trotters softball team came away with mixed results from their last few games versus Ronan and Deer Lodge. The ladies played a double-header against both teams coming away with one win and three losses. The solid offense generated by the team kept them in the games but was not enough to come away with more wins.

TRACS is hoping to get some financial help from a large national organization and has a very good chance of getting this money, which is designed to help reduce stray cat populations by controlling their reproduction. Stop the babies being made, and the populations will automatically be reduced.

Fairgrounds prepped for fall
Workers cleared several cottonwood trees from the Sanders County Fairgrounds in an effort to maintain the grounds last Wednesday, Sept. 29. Five large trees, which stood on the west side of the fairgrounds, were felled due to rotting in the limbs. Sanders County Fair Manager Mike Hashisaki decided shortly after the conclusion of this year’s fair that these trees should be taken down, the reason being that several large limbs had fallen off in an area that is frequented by heavy auto and pedestrian traffic during the year.

The St. Regis Tigers played against Two Eagle and Noxon last week. Against Two Eagle River, the boys struggled defensively and ended up losing 40-69.
ATV ride sees good turnout
Around 200 hundred riders brought their ATVs out on Saturday for the fourth annual ATV Poker Run in the West End. Dave Jones, who organized and brought the event to the county said that the event went well.

Plains eighth grade students transition to high school
PLAINS - With a little pomp and circumstance, the eighth grade class at Plains Elementary School celebrated their graduation on Wednesday at the high school gym. Around 200 family, friends, and teachers and were in attendance to witness the end of one phase in life and the beginning of the high school phase.
