Spring has arrived and with it the track and field meets in Montana. The first big track meet for many Sanders County teams was recently held and tested the athletes abilities and agility in many different events; running, relays, discus, javelin, hurdles, high kump, pole vault, triple jump, and shot put. The Plains, Hot Springs, Thompson Falls and Noxon track teams were in action on Mar. 30 in Frenchtown at the Jim Johnson Invitational.

Explosions could be heard for miles around near the old Smurfit-Stone Mill site located 11 miles northwest of Missoula. Crews set off the explosives to remove one of the buildings being deconstructed on the site on Feb. 1.

Discussions continued on Monday, Nov. 13, regarding the closure of the Mineral County jail. After dealing with the resignation of Sheriff Tom Bauer, the Mineral County Commissioners meeting turned to the task of getting the jail reopened.

EUREKA – The Plains Trotters and Horsemen track teams got their season underway at the Eureka time trials last weekend.

Superior girls medal at state

The Superior girls were seeing a lot of success as the track season was rolling to a close. They came in second at divisionals and had a group headed to state in numerous events. Yet only two girls took medals at the state track meet that was held this last weekend in Laurel. And it was in the long jump and the triple jump where the two girls shined.
