Plains is set to celebrate their annual Plains Day like wild horses running across the valley.
Recycling program is back in Sanders County
Since being reinstated, the Sanders County recycling baler has been working hard to keep the community more environmentally friendly.

A GoFundMe page has been created for the St. Regis Music Department to try and raise money for a vibraphone. The page reads that the department has “begun to work on their first percussion ensemble piece and we only need one more instrument to make our mallet section complete. Yamaha makes great instruments for a reasonable price and we are excited to fill out our percussion section with the cool sounds that this instrument adds. Help us out and donate to a wonderful growing music program in small-town Montana!”

County spelling bee crowns new champion
The annual Sanders County Spelling Bee took place in the county Court House last Friday with 16 competitors vying for the top trophy.
Flat Creek/Iron Mountain Superfund plans discussed before government shutdown
Superior Technical Assistance Committee environmental consultant Steve Ackerlund reported last week that he had met with Department of Environmental Quality Project Manager Joel Chavez and U.S. Forest Service representative Bob Wintergerst regarding how plans were coming for this spring regarding the Flat Creek/Iron Mountain Mine and Mill Site Superfund site located north of Superior.

Dustin Frank Black
Dustin Frank Black was born in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1974 to Debbie and Denver Black. He was the oldest of five children. He went to school in North Dakota and graduated from Flasher High School in 1993. After high school he moved to Plains and worked for Thompson River Lumber. He then moved back to North Dakota to work on his uncle Ron and grandparent’s ranch.
