Dorothy Jewel (Carlsen) Edison passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, with her husband Howard at her side.

G.B. Shaw comedy hits the stage in Superior
George Bernard Shaw’s Comedy “You Never Can Tell” came to the stage at the Mineral County Fairgrounds on Wednesday evening. Jim Goss with the Mineral County Performing Arts said they were worried about holding the event outside because of the smoke from area wildfires. However, when show time came at 6 p.m., the afternoon breeze had cleared the air and people brought lawn chairs, blankets and sat on bleachers to enjoy the show.
Superior School locked down briefly
Superior School experienced a brief lockdown when a student made disparaging remarks to the high school principal, Chris Clairmont on Friday, March 9. The remarks were concerning enough for Clairmont to take action for both the high school and the elementary school to be on lockdown for almost an hour.
Community Notes
Senior health and information day will be held on February 18 at the Superior Elementary. The public is welcome to come out and visit vendor booths which incudes: Mineral Co Sheriffs Dept. who will be disposing of your old drugs. Learn about insurance that Life Flight Is offering. Alberton resident Parris Jan Young will be reading and signing his book. There will also be lunch and door prizes.

Superior girls tie for third place at first track meet
The Superior boys and girls track team had a good showing at their first season meet. The meet took place on Wednesday, March 31 at the Dornblaser Field in Missoula. The girls had a huge showing tying third with Darby overall in the team ranking with 64 points, while the boys didn't fair so badly, winding up ninth overall with a total of 19.5 points.

Bobcats beat out by rain at meet
The Superior Bobcats went to Frenchtown this last weekend, competed in a couple events, before they all piled back onto the bus to drive back to Superior. The meet got cancelled due to a strike of winter weather.

After a hard-fought loss in their season opener against Charlo, first-year Superior Bobcat quarterback Wyatt Zylawy said he was looking forward to his team sinking into a zone and firing on all cylinders.

Savage Heat season ends at district
Hot Springs’ run in postseason began and ended at the district tournament in Ronan. While the team made a tough run through the opposition, they were unable to get a win against Superior on the final day to keep their postseason hopes alive. Hot Springs will end the season 6-12 in the regular season and 1-2 in postseason play.

Fire drill heats up
Outside the Superior Fire Hall, there is a tractor trailer covered with scorch marks from previous fires, and a team of three Superior Volunteer Firefighters are about to go in and set a blaze just so they can put it out.
