Norovirus hits area schools and hospital hard this month

The Mineral County Health Department reported on Friday that there has been an outbreak of gastrointestinal norovirus in area high schools and at the hospital. Peggy Stevens, director and public health nurse of the department said there has been 53 cases so far this year for Superior School and Mineral Community Hospital residents and staff during a meeting with county commissioners.

The annual Christmas Bazaar was held at the Community Center in St. Regis on Dec. 10. Coordinators Kathy Koepke and Ilene Wolff said they had more vendors than they’ve had in the past, with 32 tables filled with crafts, food, and collectables.

Libby won the annual Bob Kinney Wrestling Classic held over last weekend in Superior. Teams from all over Western Montana traveled through several inches of snow and cold to reach the high school gym for a day of intense competition. Clark Fork Mountain Cats came in sixth place with a score of 81.5.
