A 58-year-old Louisiana man died in a one-car accident on Montana 200 at mile marker 80 on Friday, Dec. 23, at 9:28 p.m., the Montana Highway Patrol reported.

Reporter's Notebook: It's been a great year

Gift packages are unwrapped, and holiday guests have headed home. The Christmas tree stands barren in the living room, with bits of ribbon and paper strewn underneath. Many of us will have to loosen our belts after eating too many cookies and treats and tighten our pocketbook in January to pay for all the holiday festivities and presents. We also had wonderful weather, with a blanket of fresh snow to adorn our Christmas morning.

The Mineral County Health Department reported on Friday that there has been an outbreak of gastrointestinal norovirus in area high schools and at the hospital. He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons and families, Chris (Tina), Jim (Patti) Frank and Art Drobny; stepchildren, Robyn (Marty) Trott, Chris Miller and Dan (Lonnie) Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Elmer McGraw of Bend, Oregon; and more than 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Candius Miller, passed away suddenly in August 2016.

Ski slopes starting to open

Snow storms have been rolling through the Clark Fork valley as skier’s wax their boards and get ready for another season on the slopes. Lookout Ski area reported eight inches of new snow on Monday, Dec. 5. They plan on reopening the slopes on Thursday, Dec. 8 and say they have 34 inches at the base and 40 inches at the summit.

Deer harvest numbers up from 2015
